Dr. Stile approaches body sculpting & contouring with cosmetic surgery much like an artist would approach a sculpture. In fact, for Dr. Stile this cosmetic procedure is a form of living sculpture. Many of us struggle with “problem areas”, and these areas are those known as diet and exercise resistant “fat deposits”.
In other words, are as that are the first to show signs (get larger) of a less than optimal diet and exercise program or those areas that are the least improved by adherence to a responsible diet and exercise program. For many of us, the tendency to gain weight in these areas is genetic.
Dr. Stile uses a tumescent liposuction technique when performing liposuction. This is one of the oldest and safest methods used for this type of surgery. Even though it is more physically demanding and time consuming then other methods such as ultra sound assisted, laser or Vaser techniques, the results are superior. There are fewer contour abnormalities and certainly no burns associated with the tumescent technique.
The tumescent liposuction technique utilizes a large volume of a very dilute solution of local anesthetic (lidocaine) and adrenaline (epinephrine) mixed in normal saline. This mixture is infiltrated (injected) into the fatty area(s) the patient wishes to have eliminated or contoured. The fat is then aspirated (sucked) out using a series of small cannulas following the operative plan and the patient’s desired outcome. Up to five liters may be safely removed using this technique.
Areas that my patients most frequently want contoured include:
• Abdomen & flanks
• Inner / outer thighs
• Inner knees
• Upper Arms /triceps
• Bra Strap area
• Outer breast
• Male Chest /Gynecomastia
• Chin & neck

Description of Liposuction and Lipo-Sculpture Cosmetic Surgery Procedures
This outpatient surgical procedure, liposuction or liposculpture, is performed in our state-of-the-art operating rooms. Premium Surgical Services Center is a free standing fully accredited Ambulatory Surgery Center. Our surgical center is licensed by the state of Nevada and also federally regulated. We have attained additional accreditation from the Joint Commission’s ambulatory health care accreditation program with “deemed MCR approved status”. We are the only privately owned surgical center dedicated to the specialty of plastic surgery that has both these accreditations in the state of Nevada.
The liposuction or liposculpture procedure is performed while using general anesthesia (patients are fully “asleep”) for the patient’s comfort and surgeon’s control. General anesthesia as well as pre and post-operative care are provided by our Board Certified Anesthesiologist.
Patients have the areas they wish corrected by contouring mapped in the pre-operative area on the morning of their surgery. Dr. Stile follows the operative plan by creating a small number of 0.5 centimeter incisions/canula sites near the areas being sculpted. Tumescent fluid is then injected into the fat following Dr. Stile’s pre-designed surgical plan. Tumescent fluid is composed of a large volume of a very dilute solution of local anesthetic (lidocaine) and adrenaline (epinephrine) mixed in normal saline.
The fat is then aspirated (sucked) out using a series of small cannulas following the operative plan and the patient’s desired outcome. Up to five liters may be safely removed using this technique. The cannula sites are closed using a single stitch for each opening completing the surgical procedure.
Recovery after Liposuction and Lipo-Sculpture Procedures
Liposuction and liposculpture is an outpatient surgical procedure. After their surgery, and following a short stay in our post-surgical care unit, patients are discharged to return home. Generally, post-operative instructions call for rest but patients are encouraged to begin moving/walking, as tolerated and immediately following their procedure.
Dressings are placed over the cannula sites and held in place by surgical tape. These dressings are further secured by a specialized surgical garment that is worn for up to four weeks following your procedure. In addition to support, the garment helps to shape and optimize your final result.
Patients describe the pain associated with cosmetic liposculpture surgery as ranging from minor discomfort, “sunburn like”, or “feels like a hard workout” to significant soreness. The perception of pain is a uniquely personal experience depending on a patient’s ability to tolerate pain. However, this discomfort is effectively controlled with oral pain medication and muscle relaxers prescribed by your surgeon.
Patients can resume most normal activity not requiring lifting of heavy objects or exertion, one week (seven days) following surgery. Full activity including exercise and resistance training can begin following the second week. Complications are rare. Patients can minimize potential problems by carefully following the directions provided by Dr. Stile after surgery.
