How is Brow Lift Performed?

Brow lift surgeries are performed with the patient under general anesthesia as outpatient surgery at our accredited surgical center – Premium Surgical Services Center.

The most common brow lift techniques are the open brow lift, limited incision brow lift, and endoscopic brow lift, which will be chosen based on the patient’s goals and individual features. Once the incisions are made, the surgeon will remove any excess skin and then smooth and reposition the muscles and soft tissue to smooth wrinkles and lines while elevating the eyebrows to an appropriate or more youthful level.

The forehead skin is lifted and tightened. This process repositions and raises the eyebrows to soften frown lines for a smoother appearance. It also significantly diminishes the horizontal lines and furrows that can make patients appear angry, sad, tired, or aged.  

The result is a more youthful, awake, and refreshed appearance. A brow lift can be performed alone or in conjunction with other procedures, such as a facelift or eyelid surgery. Brow lift surgery is individualized for each patient, and Dr. Stile will recommend a specific technique that meets your needs and provides optimal results. 

Dr. Stile also performs forehead reduction or hairline lowering procedures for patients who feel their forehead is too broad or prominent and contributes to a prematurely aged look.

The best candidates for forehead lift surgery have the following: 

  • Excess skin that creates folds and creases. 
  • Droopy eyelids and eyebrows. 
  • Dynamic wrinkles on their brow. 
  • Want a long-lasting solution that has not been achieved with BOTOX®. 
  • Do not need a full facelift. 

While visible improvements can be seen immediately, the final results of the brow lift are fully appreciated in about six to eight weeks after surgery. Patients will no longer have a tired, angry look and enjoy a youthful, refreshed appearance. 

This is an outpatient surgical procedure. Patients are discharged home after a short recovery in our accredited center. Patients will return for a follow-up appointment the next day for a wound check and dressing change and again in a week to have their sutures removed. 

For the first days after the surgery, patients should expect some temporary swelling, bruising, discomfort, tightness, and numbness. Most patients take four weeks to recover fully after a brow lift. They are generally able to drive and return to light work in two weeks.
