Chin Augmentation Las Vegas

Why Consider Chin Augmentation?

A chin that is too small or too large can negatively affect the proportion of the face and throw off facial harmony altogether. This can cause feelings of insecurity and self-consciousness, which can contribute to low self-esteem.

However, with chin augmentation surgery (genioplasty), your chin can be altered to a shape that is both flattering and complementary to your existing features. This can especially improve the side facial profile and is sometimes paired with rhinoplasty for optimal harmony and balance of the face.

How is Chin Augmentation Performed?

A patient will receive general anesthesia during chin augmentation surgery. This surgery is performed as an outpatient procedure at our accredited surgical facility – Premium Surgical Services Center. Dr. Stile will make a small incision on either the inside of the mouth or under the chin. An implant, which is made of biocompatible, medical-grade materials, will be placed carefully through the incision into a precisely created space.

After the implant is placed, the incision will be closed. If the incision was made in the mouth, the patient will have no visible scarring. For incisions under the chin, the scar will be inconspicuous and is minimally detectable. The entire surgery takes approximately one hour to complete.

Learn More About Chin Augmentation

A more balanced facial profile and jawline can be achieved with implants or chin reduction surgery. Whichever route you choose, board-certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Frank L. Stile can create a custom treatment plan that addresses your specific concerns. At Stile Aesthetics in Las Vegas, NV, we want to educate and prepare our patients as much as possible.

Therefore, we conduct a thorough examination and present before and after photos and implant types to patients who are interested in undergoing this procedure. Chin augmentation is often combined with other facial surgeries, such as a facelift or rhinoplasty.

The best candidates for genioplasty:

  • Have a weak or short chin due to genetics or trauma.
  • Have a nose that appears too prominent as it relates to their chin.
  • Want a more proportionate look and facial balance.
  • Want a more distinctive profile.

After the swelling subsides in a few weeks, patients will be able to see the results of their surgery. The implant will look and feel like the patient’s normal facial bone. Results should look intentionally natural with improved facial proportions.

This is an outpatient surgical procedure. Patients are discharged home after a short recovery in our accredited center. Following a genioplasty, a tape dressing will be applied to the chin, where it should remain for three to four days. This helps hold the implant in place during early healing.

Patients can expect some pain, tenderness, and swelling. Patients can also experience a tight, stretched sensation following surgery. These symptoms usually go away in about one week. Patients are able to return to light work in two weeks. Most patients can return to full activity after four weeks.
