Gynecomastia Las Vegas & Spring Valley

If your large male breasts embarrass you or affect your confidence, you might feel isolated or alone. However, gynecomastia or enlarged male breasts affects about 50% of all men during their lifetimes. Male breast reduction, also known as gynecomastia surgery, reduces excess breast volume and sculpts a flatter, more masculine chest.

What is Male Breast Reduction or Gynecomastia Surgery?

If you have tried exercise or losing weight to shrink your enlarged male breasts, you may already know that these methods are not usually effective. While obesity and lifestyle can contribute to the condition, gynecomastia is most often caused by imbalances in hormones like testosterone and estrogen. A range of medical conditions, medications, and illicit substances can also cause it. Regardless of the cause, this condition is most effectively treated with male breast reduction.

What to Expect After Male Breast Reduction

Our accredited surgical facility provides a safe, comfortable setting for your procedure. Dr. Stile will usually perform an incision along the edge of your areola and remove excess glandular breast tissue. He will also use liposuction to remove fatty tissue and provide sculpting.

Recovery

A compression garment will support your chest after surgery and help control swelling. You will need to limit your upper body movements for several days. Most people can return to low-activity jobs after seven to ten days, but you may need more time if your job involves lifting or straining your chest.

Dr. Stile will approve your return to strenuous activities such as strength training during a follow-up visit. Most people can return to these activities after about four to six weeks, but this will vary depending on the details of your procedure and how quickly you heal.

Results

Your chest will look different immediately after surgery, but the area will look swollen for several weeks. As the swelling resolves, you will start to see your new, more masculine contours. Gynecomastia surgery results will usually last a lifetime, although the appearance of the area may change if you gain weight.

If your gynecomastia is caused by a medication, medical condition, or hormonal imbalance, addressing these issues simultaneously with surgery can help you achieve long-lasting results. Leading a healthy lifestyle and managing possible risk factors can ensure your chest stays flat and sculpted.

Am I a Good Candidate for Male Breast Reduction?

Male breast reduction helps many men achieve a masculine chest that restores their confidence. However, gynecomastia surgery is not recommended for everyone. Good candidates should be healthy and have reasonable expectations. In some cases, medical issues should be resolved prior to surgery to ensure you achieve your best results.
