Are you looking for a solution to expression lines and wrinkles? You have several excellent options. Botox® is an injectable treatment that smooths lines and wrinkles. It works by quieting the facial muscles that cause these lines, letting your skin relax and softening even deep wrinkles.

WHAT IS BOTOX®?

Botox® was the first injectable treatment FDA-approved to treat lines and wrinkles caused by muscle movement. While our facial expressions help us communicate, they also cause repetitive motions that crease the skin. At first, you may only notice these lines when you smile, frown, or laugh, but over time they may appear even when your face is at rest. Botox® can relax the muscles that create expression lines for a smoother, more youthful appearance.

WHAT IS BOTOX® MADE OF?

While you may have heard Botox® called a neurotoxin, that name may be misleading. Botox® does not have any harmful effects on your facial muscles or nerves. Botox® uses a form of botulinum toxin, an ingredient purified from the bacteria that produce it. It works by attaching to the nerves that control your facial muscles and stopping them from sending signals. Without signals, the muscles become relaxed, relieving tension on the skin to remove lines and wrinkles. After Botox® wears off, your nerves and muscles will resume their usual activity.

WHAT CAN BOTOX® (BOTULINUM TOXIN) TREAT?

Botox® works on most expression lines and wrinkles. Dr. Stile and his team use Botox® to treat:

  • Forehead wrinkles
  • Lines between the brows (glabellar lines)
  • Crow’s feet
  • Marionette lines
  • Upper lip lines

When used in these areas, Botox® leaves them smooth and relaxed. In medicine, Botox® can treat conditions such as muscle spasms and hyperhidrosis.

WHAT RESULTS WILL I SEE WITH BOTOX®?

You may start to notice results a few days after getting Botox®. Full results take seven to ten days to develop. Your results can last three to six months, depending on your body’s response to Botox®. As Botox® takes effect, you will notice lines and wrinkles become softer and less noticeable, helping you look younger and more refreshed.
