What are the Benefits of Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty Las Vegas

Noses come in all shapes and sizes, but not all those shapes and sizes are ideal for each individual’s aesthetic preferences and facial structure. Some patients find that their nose distracts from the rest of their facial features. That’s what makes cosmetic rhinoplasty one of the most popular procedures Dr. Stile performs.

WHAT IS RHINOPLASTY?

Rhinoplasty, also known as nose surgery or a “nose job,” is a procedure that reshapes the nose. Medically, rhinoplasty may be used to correct a deviated septum and improve breathing. Cosmetically, it’s done to enhance the appearance of the nose to improve facial harmony.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF RHINOPLASTY?

Cosmetic rhinoplasty aims to achieve an aesthetically pleasing nose that fits the patient’s facial structure and features. If your nose is slightly too large or arched, it can significantly disrupt your facial harmony. A well-shaped nose brings the other facial features into proportion and balance.

Dr. Stile carefully tailors every nose surgery to the patient’s unique facial anatomy and aesthetic preferences. Rhinoplasty can improve:

  • A nose that is too large or small
  • An overly arched nasal bridge
  • Flared large nostrils
  • An upturned or hooked nose
  • A crooked nose

HOW DOES RHINOPLASTY WORK?

There are multiple methods of rhinoplasty, depending on the patient’s needs. The two primary techniques are open rhinoplasty and closed rhinoplasty. Closed rhinoplasty is often preferred for its less detectable scarring, but open rhinoplasty is better for complex cases.

Dr. Stile will perform your nose surgery on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. Depending on your personalized surgery, he will make a small incision between the nostrils under the nose or inside the nostrils. He will then reposition and remove bony, cartilage and soft  tissues to achieve the desired shape. Rhinoplasty procedures typically take two hours.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER RHINOPLASTY

After the surgery, your nose will be stabilized with splints, which Dr. Stile will remove in about a week. You can expect some swelling, bruising, and discomfort. Most patients return to work in one to two weeks. However, all visible swelling and discoloration may take a few weeks to subside. You’ll need to avoid strenuous exercise for three to four weeks and contact sports for at least three months.

The results of your procedure will become apparent as bruising and swelling fade. Full rhinoplasty results are visible in approximately one year, and these improvements are permanent.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR RHINOPLASTY?

If you are unhappy with the appearance of your nose, you may be a good candidate for rhinoplasty. Rhinoplasty can improve the shape and size of your nose for better facial harmony and increased confidence. Ideal candidates should be over 16, overall healthy, and have realistic expectations. During a detailed consultation, Dr. Stile will help you determine if rhinoplasty is right for you.
