Rhinoplasty Las Vegas

While most types of facial plastic surgery are performed to correct signs of aging, people who want a nose job often know it from an early age. If you have been uncomfortable with the appearance of your nose for years, you are most likely wondering how old you have to be to get it fixed.

What is a Nose Job (Rhinoplasty)?

Dr. Stile at Stile Aesthetics performs rhinoplasty to correct a wide range of concerns, including overall size, asymmetry, a bump or hump, and tip or nostril shape. Dr. Stile uses a combination of skill and artistry to sculpt your nose in a way that looks like you but more shapely and proportionate. A nose job can restore harmony to your facial features, making other features like your chin look more balanced.

How Old Do You Have to Be to Get a Nose Job?

If your nose has made you self-conscious or even led to teasing from peers as a child, you may have been hoping to change it for a long time. The most important factor in whether you are old enough to have a nose job is whether the bones and cartilage in your nose have finished growing and settled into place.

If you are 18 or older, your nasal structures are fully developed, and you should be old enough for rhinoplasty. However, the appropriate age can only be determined by a consultation and full assessment by Dr. Stile. However, Dr Stile has performed rhinoplasty surgery on patients as young as 16 (with parental consent).

Several other factors affect whether you are a good candidate for rhinoplasty. Candidates should have reasonable expectations about what this procedure can accomplish. They should also be in good health and able to undergo the procedure safely. Candidates may be interested in correcting a wide range of nose concerns.

How is Rhinoplasty Performed?

Rhinoplasty is one of the most popular procedures that Dr. Stile performs. It takes place in our accredited surgical facility under general anesthesia and typically takes two to four hours.

If you are happy with the overall shape and size of your nose but want to see less dramatic changes, Dr. Stile may perform a closed rhinoplasty. This method uses incisions inside the nostrils to prevent visible scars but does not allow full access to the nasal structures.

For more significant changes, Dr. Stile will often use an open rhinoplasty. In this case, an incision is made between the nostrils at the base of the nose, giving the surgeon access to the deeper structures. The incision heals to a nearly invisible scar.

How Long Does a Nose Job Last?

The results of most plastic surgery will change over time as you age. However, after the bones and cartilage of your nose have been reshaped, they will remain in their new position for the rest of your life. The shape of your nose is not affected by aging, although it may look different if the features around it lose volume. You can expect nose job results to last a lifetime if you do not injure your nose in the future.
