How Much Weight Can You Lose With Liposuction?

Liposuction Las Vegas

Have you worked to achieve a healthy figure but still have areas of difficult fat? You might benefit from liposuction. If you hope to lose a few extra pounds, however, you should not expect liposuction to help. This body-sculpting treatment works to shape and contour and is not intended for weight loss.

WHAT IS LIPOSUCTION?

Liposuction is a highly effective, minimally invasive body sculpting technique. Dr. Stile uses tumescent liposuction, injecting fluid into the treatment area. This fluid contains a local anesthetic and constricts blood vessels for minimal bleeding. He then inserts a small cannula with a suction tube and moves it around to break up and remove fat. The incision is so tiny that it does not need to be sutured.

HOW MUCH WEIGHT CAN YOU LOSE WITH LIPOSUCTION?

You should not expect liposuction to help you lose weight. The fat removed by liposuction lies just under the skin, so removing it can noticeably improve your body shape and appearance. However, the amount of fat removed is insufficient to change your weight. Some people may lose one to four pounds, while others may not lose any. The best candidates for liposuction are close to their target weight but want to eliminate pockets of stubborn fat.

WHERE IS LIPOSUCTION USED?

You can have liposuction almost anywhere on your body that can accumulate fat. While some may surprise you, the small cannula Dr. Stile uses allows fat removal from many places, including:

  • Abdomen
  • Flanks
  • Back
  • Chest
  • Thighs
  • Arms
  • Knees
  • Ankles
  • Under the chin

If you have questions about an area of stubborn fat, schedule a consultation so Dr. Stile can fully assess your needs and recommend a treatment plan.

HOW MUCH DOES LIPOSUCTION COST?

Liposuction costs vary depending on where you live and which surgeon you choose. The average price of liposuction is about $3500 per area. This does not include surgical fees, anesthetic, and other expenses. Prices will also vary depending on where you want liposuction, and you can expect large areas to cost more.

WHAT IS RECOVERY LIKE FROM LIPOSUCTION?

You will experience some swelling and soreness after the procedure. Dr. Stile will provide appropriate pain management. You can expect these effects to subside after about a week. Most people can return to work about a week after the procedure. However, Dr. Stile will recommend waiting two weeks or more before resuming more strenuous activities.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR LIPOSUCTION?

Good candidates for liposuction have reasonable expectations about what the procedure can do. Candidates who enjoy maximum benefits are at or near their target weight and want a more sculpted figure. You should have no serious health problems and not smoke before or after liposuction.
