Rhinoplasty Las Vegas & Spring Valley

If you are considering any surgical procedure, recovery time is an important question. If you think you might want rhinoplasty or a “nose job,” you should plan enough time to heal completely so you can enjoy your best results. While most people recover smoothly and without issues after this procedure, Dr. Stile and your team at Stile Aesthetics will help you understand what to expect each step of the way.

What is a Nose Job (Rhinoplasty)?

If you have aesthetic or functional concerns about your nose, a nose job or rhinoplasty may be the best solution. The structure of your nose is made of cartilage and bone that can be reshaped to adjust issues with the size of your nose, the width or shape of the bridge, the shape of the nostrils, and an overall asymmetry. The structures of your nose can also be reshaped to improve your breathing, a procedure called a functional rhinoplasty.

How is Rhinoplasty Performed?

Dr. Stile performs nose surgery under general anesthesia in our accredited surgical facility. Depending on the details of the procedure, it usually takes two to four hours. If the corrections you have requested are fairly minor, he may perform a closed rhinoplasty using incisions inside the nose. For more significant changes, he will perform an open rhinoplasty with a small incision at the base of the nose between the nostrils.

How Long is Recovery After a Nose Job?

When you leave after your nose job, you will have an external splint and usually some internal packing for support. You can expect some swelling, soreness, and bruising that may spread to the undereye area. Dr. Stile and his team will provide you with instructions and medication as needed.

You will have a follow-up appointment after a few days to check your progress and remove the packing. The splint comes off after a week, although you may need to tape your nose for support. Most people notice significant improvements in swelling and bruising after the first few weeks. Follow all your instructions carefully.

While you may be able to return to work after two or three weeks, each person heals at a different rate. Dr. Stile will monitor your progress through follow-up visits and determine when you can safely resume your activities without compromising your safety or results.

Am I a Good Candidate for Rhinoplasty?

A nose job may be right for you if the appearance or function of your nose bothers you and you want to make lasting changes. Good candidates should have no major health problems and reasonable expectations. You may not be a candidate if you are pregnant, have certain medical conditions, or have other factors that could affect your safety or results.
