Even the fittest, healthiest bodies have a few preferred areas where they store any available fat. Wherever those areas are for you, you can sculpt and shape them with liposuction. This procedure removes unwanted fat from targeted areas to create attractive contours and eliminate stubborn bulges. Dr. Stile performs several types of liposuction to provide the best results.

What is Liposuction for Body Contouring?

Liposuction is a fat removal and body sculpting treatment used to remove fat. It is performed using a thin device called a cannula to break up fat cells and remove them. In some cases, a laser or another type of energy is used to make fat removal easier. Dr. Stile uses tumescent liposuction, using a combination of sterile saline, numbing agents, and blood vessel constrictors to reduce bleeding and swelling. He also uses Power assisted Liposiction (PAL) and VASER platforms depending on the patient’s individual needs.

How Long Does Liposuction Last?

Although fat cells can change size if your weight changes, adult bodies do not grow new ones. As a result, removing fat cells prevents them from coming back. Your liposuction results can last a lifetime, especially if you maintain a healthy lifestyle and consistent weight. We recommend that people lead a healthy lifestyle and maintain a stable weight prior to liposuction since this will help you enjoy lasting results.

What Areas Can Liposuction Treat?

Liposuction can be used almost anywhere on your body to remove fat. However, it is most often used as part of another procedure, such as a tummy tuck. During this procedure, Dr. Stile may use liposuction to improve the contours of the abdomen and waistline. Liposuction can also be used to collect donor fat for facial fat transfer. This procedure replaces lost facial volume or enhances definition by transferring fat from another area to the face, where it will establish itself for a lifetime.

What is Recovery Like After Liposuction?

You will typically feel some discomfort and swelling after liposuction, although Dr. Stile’s technique helps minimize it. Most people can do light activities around the house within a few days and can return to work within a week. Depending on the area, you may experience some remaining soreness for up to a few weeks and may need to limit certain physical activities.

Am I a Good Candidate for Liposuction?

You may consider liposuction if you want to address pockets of hard-to-budge fat in targeted areas with long-lasting results. You may be a good candidate if you are healthy and have reasonable expectations. Liposuction works best for those who are close to or at their goal weight but want to work on those few challenging areas. It should not be considered a weight loss procedure.
