How Does Rhinoplasty Work?

Rhinoplasty Las Vegas & Spring Valley

Your nose gives your face balance and symmetry. If your nose does not suit your face or draws attention in the wrong ways, you may benefit from rhinoplasty. This procedure corrects a wide range of concerns with the appearance or function of your nose to bring your facial features into a harmonious whole.

What is Rhinoplasty?

Nose surgery, or rhinoplasty, is one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries. Because your nose plays such a prominent role in defining your face, you may feel self-conscious if your nose has a bump, is too wide, crooked, or asymmetrical. Each rhinoplasty is a customized procedure designed to achieve your goals and give your features a more sculpted appearance.

How Does Rhinoplasty Work?

Rhinoplasty is performed under general anesthesia in our accredited surgical facility at Stile Aesthetics. Dr. Stile will use one of two general strategies to approach your procedure.

Closed Rhinoplasty

Dr. Stile may perform a closed rhinoplasty if your corrections are minor enough to be made with incisions hidden inside the nose. While there are no external incisions or scars, this method may not allow your surgeon to make some types of changes.

Open Rhinoplasty

To gain more access and make more significant changes, Dr. Stile makes a small incision at the base of the nose between the nostrils. This incision allows him to access and reshape deeper structures of the nose. This incision will leave a tiny, almost invisible scar.

The average nose surgery takes two to four hours. You will be monitored in our comfortable recovery setting until you are ready to go home. You will need a ride home and may benefit from assistance for the next day or two.

What is Recovery Like After Rhinoplasty?

Your nose and the area under your eyes may look swollen or bruised after your nose surgery. Discomfort is managed with medication as needed. You will have a splint on your nose that will be removed after a week. You may be able to return to a low-activity job after about two weeks and more strenuous activities after four to six weeks.

Am I a Good Candidate for Rhinoplasty?

Rhinoplasty may be right for you if the appearance of your nose holds you back or affects your confidence. Good candidates have no major health problems and reasonable expectations. Candidates may have a wide range of concerns they hope to address. You should not have this procedure if you have certain medical conditions.

What Results Will I See After Rhinoplasty?

You will see changes to your nose after your splint comes off. However, swelling will prevent you from appreciating your final results for a few weeks, sometimes even months. While you will look mostly back to normal after this time, residual swelling can last for months, so your results will keep improving.
