Have you noticed more and more fine lines, even with a quality skincare routine? Topical treatments cannot hold off the progress of aging forever. Chemical peels can smooth away these fine lines by removing damaged layers of skin. These versatile treatments address a wide range of skin concerns and can be customized to meet your needs.

WHAT ARE CHEMICAL PEELS?

Chemical peels are treatments applied to the skin and left on for a specific time. During this time, acids in the chemical peel remove dull, damaged layers of skin. Chemical peels usually contain compounds such as salicylic, glycolic, or trichloroacetic acids. These acids work to a controlled depth, affecting only the targeted layers of skin. As a result, a peel can be as mild or intensive as you require.

CAN CHEMICAL PEELS GET RID OF FINE LINES?

Chemical peels can address a wide range of skin concerns. They make an excellent treatment for fine lines as well as deeper wrinkles. Chemical peels can treat skin issues, including:

  • Dullness
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Sun damage
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Enlarged pores
  • Loss of skin firmness
  • Age spots
  • Acne scars
  • Acne breakouts

The chemical peel your provider uses will depend on several factors. These include the depth of your lines and how much downtime you can tolerate. A light chemical peel, which addresses the outer layers of skin, can gently smooth away fine lines over a series of treatments. A medium peel uses more intensive acids and treats deeper layers of skin. This peel will treat deeper lines and remove fine lines with fewer treatments. A deep peel can address deep lines, wrinkles, and scars. They are usually not necessary for getting rid of fine lines.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET A CHEMICAL PEEL?

How often you need a chemical peel depends on the peel and how your skin responds. You can have a skin-refreshing light peel as often as every few weeks. A medium peel might be scheduled every three to six months. We recommend occasional maintenance peels to keep your skin smooth and rejuvenated in both cases. You can only have a deep peel once.

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME AFTER A CHEMICAL PEEL?

Light chemical peels may have no downtime, or you may have minor redness for a few hours. Medium chemical peels vary, but you may experience a few days of redness and some peeling or flaking. A deep peel will involve extensive peeling and several weeks for your skin to recover completely. Most people can address fine lines with minimal downtime if they prefer. The more intensive the peel, the more downtime you will have, but the fewer treatments you will typically need to achieve results.
