Blepharoplasty 101: Everything You Need to Know

Eyelid Lift Las Vegas & Spring Valley

If your eye creams and treatments no longer give you the results you want, it may be time to consider a surgical procedure. Blepharoplasty or an eyelid lift tightens drooping eyelids and corrects puffy under eye bags to restore an alert, bright-eyed appearance that lets you look well-rested and energized.

What is Blepharoplasty or an Eyelid Lift?

An eyelid lift or blepharoplasty is an effective way to restore a more youthful-looking eye area. It can be performed on the upper or lower eyelids, and many people choose to have both. This procedure addresses a wide range of concerns with the appearance of the eyelids, including sagging eyelid skin, puffiness or bags under the eyes, and a tired, drooping appearance.

Blepharoplasty 101: Everything You Need to Know

When considering any procedure, you should take some time to learn about the risks, benefits, and what you can expect. An eyelid lift is a relatively minor procedure with a generally quick recovery, but it is not right for everyone.

What Does an Upper Blepharoplasty Treat?

Upper blepharoplasty or an upper eyelid lift  is recommended if you have drooping or wrinkled eyelid skin that makes your eyes look hooded, heavy or tired. This loose skin can even sag enough to obscure part of your vision. Removing the sagging skin helps your upper lids look smooth and refreshed.

What Does a Lower Blepharoplasty Treat?

Lower blepharoplasty may be recommended for your lower lids if you have puffy undereye bags that make you look tired, sad or angry. Pads of fat can shift forward as you age or become more visible, so removing or repositioning them creates a smoother, less puffy appearance. Dermal fillers or a fat transfer may be used to address under eye hollowness.

How is an Eyelid Lift Performed?

Your procedure takes place in our accredited surgical facility. Dr. Stile uses an incision in the crease of the eyelid or along the lash line of the lower eyelid and uses it to remove and tighten the excess skin, reposition fat pads, and smooth wrinkles. The procedure typically takes about two hours

What is Recovery Like After Blepharoplasty?

You will have some swelling and bruising after the procedure, but it will improve within the first week. Most people can return to work after a week and moderate physical activity after about three weeks. You will receive detailed instructions on how to care for your incisions while they heal.

Can I Have Other Procedures With Blepharoplasty?

Eyelid lifts are commonly combined with several other procedures. A brow lift can provide even more rejuvenation to your eye area and make your eyes more visible. Blepharoplasty combines well with almost any facial procedure to help the eye area look bright and youthful. Talk to Dr. Stile about your concerns during your consultation.
