Am I a Candidate for Microneedling?

March 20, 2022

Las Vegas Microneedling

If you have lines, wrinkles, or uneven skin tone, microneedling offers a solution. This treatment triggers the skin to repair itself, leaving it tighter, smoother, and softer. Microneedling works for skin concerns from acne scarring to hyperpigmentation as well as restoring an overall youthful appearance.

WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?

Men and women of all ages deal with a variety of skin concerns. Microneedling can improve many of these concerns by stimulating new skin cells and collagen development. Collagen provides the skin with structure and support, making it smoother and firmer. The team at Stile Aesthetics uses the Dermapen microneedling tool to give you a faster recovery and better results.

HOW DOES MICRONEEDLING WORK?

Microneedling uses a handheld device that penetrates the skin with small needles to trigger the healing process. The Dermapen uses a disposable tip with twelve tiny needles that produce micro-channels in the skin. These micro-channels signal to the cells surrounding them, and they respond with healing and growth factors. The repair process speeds the development of new skin cells and triggers collagen production.

AM I A CANDIDATE FOR MICRONEEDLING?

Good candidates for microneedling are healthy with significant medical problems. Microneedling is safe for most people. Candidates may have skin concerns such as:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Acne scarring, stretch marks, or other scars
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Hyperpigmentation and sun damage
  • Enlarged pores
  • Skin dullness

You may not make a good candidate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or have certain skin conditions such as eczema or psoriasis. If you have an active acne breakout or infection in the treatment area, you may need to wait until this resolves.

WHAT RESULTS WILL I SEE WITH MICRONEEDLING?

While some people will be satisfied with results after one treatment, many people have several sessions to achieve their desired results. The Stile Aesthetics team space your appointments four to six weeks apart to let the skin heal completely.

Most people see results within four to six weeks. Improvements occur gradually as new collagen develops and new skin cells come to the surface. You will notice that skin begins to look firmer and tighter. It will also have a softer, more even texture and a brighter skin tone.

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME WITH MICRONEEDLING?

After microneedling, your face may look red and feel sensitive. You should be back to normal within one to two days. You can resume your usual activities after treatment, but make sure to use dermatologist-recommended sun protection to avoid UV damage to your healing skin.
